Operation principle

Flight type values used in requests:

  • OW (One Way) - one way;
  • RT (Round Trip) - back and forth;
  • CR (Complex Route) - complex route;
  • OJ (Open Jaw) - disconnected complex route.

In Websky system, route types are used in search forms.

Nemo Connect provides control of route types in commission rules settings (this function is not supported in version 1.0 (Websky)).

Also, Nemo Connect includes options that allow:

  • search for the "back and forth" route as a route consisting of two disconnected routes (Open Jaw);
  • search for the One Way route and parallel comparison with the Round Trip ticket price.

Routes types in Websky

One way

One Way route - a trip from one point to another without return. Such route, as a rule, is chosen by passengers for moving inside the country, in case of international transportation - immigrants. Visa rules in some countries do not allow tourists to enter the territory of the state without a return ticket.

In general, a one-way ticket is the most expensive type of travel document.

Round Trip

Round Trip route - a trip to the point of departure and back, usually along the same path. The modern airline industry is based on round-trip routes, as it is profitable for airlines to have a full round-trip. In addition, the rules of some countries require a return ticket at entry.

In GDS, a Round Trip route must always be issued as a single ticket, otherwise it is considered a One Way route.

Round Trip price formation

The route type is set by the user to search form.

On international routes, the round-trip route is usually cheaper than two separate one-way tickets. However, the tourist departs from the same airport to which he arrived and does it with the same airline. If the country of departure is different from the country of arrival, this ticket does not always have a low fare. On domestic routes, a circular route may be more expensive than two separate ones.

In calculating the fare, of course, other parameters are taken into account. In the same way the type of route they can be: flight distance, season, availability of return date (ticket with an open date is always more expensive), etc.

Many airlines have employees whose job is to develop fare codes only.

Sunday rule

"Sunday Rule" (or "Weekend Rule") is one of the ways to form the fare, in which, for a tourist leaving the accommodation not earlier than midnight on the Sunday nearest from the date of arrival, the ticket is cheaper. For the first time this rule began to be applied by American carriers who noticed that passengers traveling for business purposes do not stay for the weekend in the place of temporary stay and are not so sensitive to the price of the ticket, as opposed to holidaymakers who agree to adjust their schedule to save money.

Complicated route

Complex Route is a trip with several flights, which takes into account the necessary period of stops at each of the arrival points. In this case, the starting point of departure and the final destination may coincide (closed complex route) or may not (open complex route). Movements between points of departure by alternative means of transport may also be included in the travel plan.

==== Flight search by complex route in Websky ====. The route type is set by the user on the search form.

  • A complex route is searched in Websky by segments.
  • The maximum number of flight segments is 8, i.e. up to 7 intermediate arrival points can be selected.
  • The required departure date is specified for each segment.
  • Routes may be either closed or open.

In GDS, a Complex Route must always be issued as a single ticket, otherwise it is considered a route with separate tickets (One Way).

Open route (Open Jaw)

Open Jaw route is a type of the route where arrival and return points do not coincide. The path between these points can be done in any way: by car, train, bicycle or on foot (see "ground segment").

The fare for OJ is almost always lower compared to two OW.
